Restricted Funds (Part 1)

During a recent update we have released the first part of a series of updates to improve the Restricted Funds analysis tools.  The first part deals with the ability to create and allocate a restricted fund to a payment or receipt.

Creating A Restricted Fund

You can now create a Restricted Fund in OPAS under Parish Settings > Accounts Format Set Up.  The old "departments" reference has changed to "Funds".

 If you have not used this before, you will need to tick the box name "Use Funds" and press update.

This will create a new tab called "Funds".  Click on this tab and then "Add a new fund" link.

Complete the sections "Name of Fund" and also give it a "Fund Number".  This number can be used to quickly select the fund using the keyboard when posting transactions.  Click on "Add Fund" to save.

You will see the full list of all restricted funds and their status.

Allocating Restricted Funds to transactions

Once you have activated the funds tab you will automatically be able to allocate a fund when posting a receipt or payment.  Navigate to the "Receipts" or "Payments" tab.

When entering a transaction you will need to "expand" the row by clicking on:  08-02-2010_19-42-22.png and this will provide you with the "Fund" drop down field to allocate the appropriate Restricted Fund against.  Any transaction that is not allocated will be classified as "unrestricted" by default (thus it is not necessary to add a fund called "Unrestricted".
