Charities are losing up to £700m per year in unclaimed Gift Aid....

Here's how you can put Gift Aid at the top of your thoughts when fundraising.

  • Promote Gift Aid on every fundraising appeal and all marketing materials.
  • Prepare some simple examples on how the extra tax relief will help your charity.
  • Make sure your team fully understands Gift Aid.
  • Include the reclaim in your fundraising targets.
  • Appoint a Gift Aid specialist whom will be the main contact for Gift Aid queries.
  • Maintain contact with your donor and inform them of where the extra money has gone.
  • Remind higher rate tax payers that they are eligible for a tax refund on their donation.
  • Contact any donor who has not signed a Gift Aid declaration - don't forget to explain the benefits and how it will help you.
  • Don't forget, reclaim Gift Aid on any past donations once you have received the signed declaration.
  • Ensure tax-effective fundraising is priority in event planning and trustee meetings.
