All updates to be rolled out shortly and with minimum disruption You may also need to press F5 button on the keyboard to refresh the images |
You may have thought our developers had fallen off the edge of the world as there have been very few noticeable changes to systems recently. However, they have indeed been beavering away with things behind the scenes. Unfortunately, many of these were long-overdue structural changes to the software, as well as much needed maintenance (which, I am sure, isn't much interest to you).
However, I am pleased to say that these improvements to the 'back-end' will help us roll out important enhancements in the future.
Here are some changes to the site that are a taster of what's to come!
After nearly 8 years of use, we have retired the old horizontal tabbed menu format to navigate around the site. The old menu, although great in its day, had limitations to what it could do plus it made navigating to different pages sometimes cumbersome.
The new menu structure allows you to quickly and simply navigate to different areas of the page without have to go "via" another page. It means swapping from the bank ledger to the envelope allocation screen is now ONE CLICK away instead of the two or three.

The drop-down menu will be improved overtime with the ability to add to a favourite menu, to navigate even easier.
You will also notice that we have changed the look and feel of the software also by changing the headers, footers, style of the inner pages and the colours. All these changes are not just for cosmetic reasons (although we do like playing around with fancy colours and images).
They not only help us standardise our customers' software templates but will allow us in a future update to give you the chance of selecting your own colours and styles to use while entering your information. So if you don't like orange then change your system to red!
This all helps with the interface and ensuring our software is as easy to use as possible.

The new drop down menus are better but the Parish Settings area is very fiddly and regularly drops you into an area you did not want making you repeat the selection process again. Also how about redoing the input screen so when you tab the cursor along it goes to each field in order. This too can make inputting more time consuming?
Would like to see a 'split' entry have unlimited lines or at least say 40 to say me having to split a sunday collection into to entries into the cash account . this is necessary at Easter and Xmas when there are lot of one off offerings and although it is not cuical it is frustrating.
Would also prefer lines not to autofil with details from the previouds entry when entering receipts.
The sub caterogies (and locations) would also be usefull in alphabetical order - its impossible to remember all the numbers though I realise as income and expenditure and third party are in the one list this would be difficult
