Fund Reports

This is an idea from a Parish Treasurer :

"The sub activity report for 3rd party is good and very clear - can we not put the few 'restricted' funds in as similar style Report, as they too are restricted. This would make it very straight forward to look at the Fund reports in full/more detail."

Our question to 3rd sector Digital Ltd is, would this idea be workable? And if not, what is the best current was of viewing the Restricted & Designated Funds?

Hi Aimee,
Thanks for the question.

Do you mean...can we put in the restricted funds filter into the sub category activity report as well?

Yes, this is achievable and we can look at doing this in the near future.

If you wanted to view restricted funds currently, you can use the filters within the "Receipts and Payments" report tab.

By the way, thanks for using our support portal for such questions. It would be nice if we can encourage the parish users to use this portal directly as well

Hi Chris

Have you had a chance to look into this idea any further?

I agree that we can view restricted funds through the "Receipts and Payments" report but this has its limitations, especially when restricted funds are carried forward from one financial year to the next. Therefore a report like the one for Third Party collections would solve this problem and please many parishes.

I look forward to hearing your latest thoughts on this.

Many thanks  Aimee Luxton  Plymouth Diocesan Trust

Hi Aimee,

We do plan to implement this update at some point in the near future so that you are able to filter the sub category activity report.  I can't give any definate time scales on this but will update this topic once I know more about when we can do this.

Hi Chris

Thanks for your response.

To clarify matters we don't want to change the accouting of Restricted Funds or have them excluded from the accounts as is the situation for Third Party. We are just interested in having a better and easier was for parishes to access the Restricted Fund data, particularly where there are carried forward amounts. Certainly the Sub Category style Report, like the one we currently have for Third Party, may be the answer?

Please also see the comments that I forwarded to you recently, by emil, from my colleague Lorna Dixon on this subject - thank you.

Kind regards

Aimee

Hi Aimee,

I wonder if you have seen these two announcements regarding some of the reports

http://help.3rdsectordigital.com/entries/121524-restricted-funds-pa...

http://help.3rdsectordigital.com/entries/159376-restricted-funds-pa...

Basically, you can filter restricted funds on the Receipts and Payment Report (this would be for current year figures) or you can filter by Restricted Fund from the Trial Balance.  Assuming you have set up the Restricted Funds set up as "Balance Sheet" categories then Parishes will be able to see what has been brought forward from previous years and is thus accumulated.

Using the Trial Balance you will be able to see the relative split on the restricted funds affecting the bank account and capital reserves account.

Let me know if this makes things any clearer, otherwise we'll open a ticket and can discuss in more detail an example.

HI Aimee,

As discussed with your colleague, Lorna, the ability to export the R&P report should suffice.  We will let you know once this has been done.

Hi

I use  currently 40 locations as I l ike to breakdown thei nformation further with reports.  Can the locatoins automatically filter into alphabetical order once entered please and, after input of first two or three letters make it easier to find the fund.  Its not possible to remember their numbers.

Further, how can I quickly identify, via a report, which third party amounts need paying out.  I am new to using the system, but seem only to be able to achieve a statement  about third party through a balance sheet report.  Many thanks, Pauline, Yelverton
